Background to the mission of Jesus; Israel's assumptions about life with God. Each is contrasted with ideas of today.
The ministry of Jesus seen in the light of these assumptions. A beginning is made in the use of key New Testament vocabulary. Consideration of a few initial New Testament scenes and teachings of Jesus.
Key New Testament words are discussed.
A workshop on how to express one's ideas and feelings in ways to encourage being heard.

An approach to scripture, including a brief sketch of the New Testament development, and how God uses scripture to speak to us. The role of the historical Jesus in the development of the Christian community is studied, along with the modern necessity to represent the mission and ministry of Jesus. The dynamics of faith development are stressed.
A beginning study of the mission and ministry of Jesus, using a particular technique for scripture analysis. The passages are arranged in sequence and the program can be extended to any length depending upon the number of these "Jesus scenes" used. Integration of the insights gained into one's own spiritual growth is stressed.
In conclusion, a challenge for ministry is appropriate (though not written out.) Opportunities to give of oneself to others in specific areas of ministry can be explored, and some vocational counseling done. The current areas of need in ministry within the parish can be emphasized and training programs explained.
