Taking a Colleague's Course
One of the Center for Teaching's objectives is to get faculty talking to each other about teaching. That happens when we sit in on a colleague's course. To support this practice, the Center has two policies.
[1] When faculty take a colleague's course, the Center for Teaching will reimburse up to $100 for course books and up to $50 for joint lunches or other such occasions that allow the 'teacher' and 'student' to discuss the class.
[2] Several years ago Sherwood Ebby had a "Sewanee Partners in Teaching" program where two faculty members agreed to observe and discuss each other's classes over an extended period. In some instances the exchange took place over two semesters as the paired courses weren't offered in the same semester. The Center will fund these partnerships as two individual cases as described in the previous paragraph.
