A study of the interactions among physical, chemical, and biological factors that affect our watersheds and wetlands.
Required Core Watershed Science Courses (10 hrs)
GEOL 314/Fors 314: Hydrology (4 hrs)*
Either: GEOL 315: Watershed Contaminant Hydrology (2 hrs) or
FORS 260: Forest Watershed Measurements (2 hrs)
ESCI 430: Watershed Science Capstone (4 hrs)
Additional required Watershed Science Coursework (12 hrs from the following course list):
FORS 262: Forest and Watershed Restoration (4 hrs)
FORS 270: Water Resource Policy and Law (4 hrs)
FORS 303 / GEOL 303: Soils (4 hrs)
FORS 305: Forest Ecology (4 hrs)
CHEM 101 or 103: Chemistry with Lab (Environmental Chemistry recommended (4 hrs)
BIOL 210: Ecology (4 hrs)
ENST 217: Fundamentals of GIS (4 hrs) or other GIS course (444 or other, 2 or 4 hrs)
ENST 240: The Island Ecology Summer Program (4 hrs count toward the Watershed Science Certificate)
ENST 310: Comparative Watershed Studies (2 hrs)
ENST 310: Comparative Watershed Studies Summer Field Course (2 hrs)
Note: Students who take GEOL 314/ FORS 314 (Hydrology) to fulfill a requirement for their major
