Forests of the Domain
Quarry operations began in the summer of 1997
and continued for just over one year. During this time several test quarries
and 2 main quarries were mined for sandstone used in the construction of the
McClurg Dining Hall.
Reclamation Procedure November 1998-March 1999
Replace reserved top soil over quarried
sites.
Construct terraces, berms, and other erosion
barriers from residual stone and logs.
Fertilize and lime disturbed soil
Seed with a mixture of annual rye, winter
wheat, clover, timothy, and orchard grass.
Mulch with straw.
Plant shortleaf pine and Virginia pine.
