Professor Mohiuddin is interested in gender issues relating to the economic status of women in the U.S. and the Third World. She has done several studies in the area, including policy papers for the World Bank on the strategies for women's development in Pakistan and Turkey. She has been involved in consultancy research with the World Bank and several United Nations agencies such as the WFP, IFAD, FAO, ILO, and UNDP. She has also been actively engaged in community development work and is represented on the Board of Directors of several such organizations in Tennessee. Recently, the Governor of Tennessee appointed her as a member to the Economic Council on Women to represent independent colleges and Universities in Tennessee.
