Dr. LARRY L. RASMUSSEN is the Reinhold
Niebuhr Professor Emeritus of Social Ethics at Union Theological Seminary, New
York City
Dr.
Rasmussen is a lay theologian in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He
is the author of many books, book chapters, and articles related to
environmental ethics. His most
recent books are Habitat Earth: New Dimensions of Church and Community in
Creation;
Ethics for a Small Planet: New Horizons on Population, Consumption, and
Ecology;
and Earth Community, Earth Ethics.
Among
his many activities he is a member of the Advisory Committee of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science for its Program of Dialogue on
Science, Ethics, and Religion; the Advisory Board for the Columbia University
Center for the Study of Science and Religion; and The Hastings Center Project:
Appeals to Nature in Biotechnology and Environment.
Dr.
David Bruce Conn –
Dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at Berry College and
former Chair of the Department of Biology at The University of the South
Dr.
Conn is the author of many, books, book chapters and journal articles in the
area of Invertebrate Biology. His
most recent books are The Curse of DurganÕs Reef; Atlas of Invertebrate
Reproduction and Development, Second Edition; and Atlas of Invertebrate
Reproduction and Development.
Among
his many activities he is an Associate of Invertebrate Zoology at the Museum of
Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. He has served as the President of the American Microscopical
Society and is currently its Treasurer.
Dr. Conn has been the recipient of several grants from the John Templeton
Foundation to develop a lecture series on Science and Religion at Berry
College. He has recently received
a National Science Foundation grant to develop a Research Experiences for Undergraduates
program at Berry.
