Baptistry

This smaller chapel gets its name from having housed the baptismal font for years. The altar that once was under the window was the portable altar used by Bishop Leonidas Polk during his campaigns in the Civil War. Later, it served as his personal altar at his home in Beersheba Springs, Tennessee. The signing of the first charter of the university took place before this altar. The stained glass window depicts the baptism of Christ.
